@adi6293 Poorer families have poorer standards of living, and don't have as far on the socioeconomic ladder to fall from. Educated folks are just as if not more economically productive than entire low-income families, but have to constantly compete on staying there because spending time and money on dependents is a quick way to stall and possibly reverse upward mobility in an increasingly automated job environment.

Not to mention the feudal theocracy movements the Saudis have been allowing support for, developing a Muslim World with a hair trigger against America (culminating in 9/11) but ignore even more blatant anti-Muslim campaigns from China, Burma, Serbia, etc.

@m.deadly5952 No they can't. KSA enforces exit visas that are granted at the pleasure of the employer, who can easily petition for some vague "breach of contract" to force delays and denials in processing. Only recently did they ban employers from confiscating worker passports, but the fine for that is a measly couple hundred dollars if they're even caught.
