The Economist already estimated a total of nearly 2 million excess Chinese dead as of the Delta strain last year, so chances are this will repeat under Omicron's unstoppable spread and saturated (actual not fangcang) hospitals.

  2. It's traditional in that it uses the whole virus, treated in a way to make it inactive. Problem seems to be using the whole thing also creates more messy and less effective antibodies, as opposed to much more focused samples of the spike protein that mRNA and viral vector alternatives produce.

  3. Yeah, I felt more sick and gained over 10 lbs just by living in China for not even a year. Funny thing is I quickly lost the weight and felt better after leaving. And no there wasn't any significant changes in diet or activities. I think there's something with all the chemicals they use in their agriculture.

  6. You would think a China watcher would at least study how to pronounce Chinese names. The "sh" sound does exist in English, it's not like asking for Arabic H's or Bantu clicks.
