  2. "Full blown" with what? Iran's remote strike capabilities are only deteriorating, and they can't afford to march its troops across two countries and invade Israel when they have considerable threats from disenchanted citizens internally, many of whom hold long-standing separatist sentiments.

  3. Shirvan is Azeri, so generally not a fan of the Ayatollah's Iran. Then again nobody else is either, and the Iranian public has become largely disenchanted by their theocracy. The Ayatollah's external "allies" like Russia and China are merely using Iran as a proxy and distraction against the US.

  5. Problem is the dominant Muslim culture enforces blind submission to traditional authority -- "submission" is literally its name -- including a fixed hierarchy of identities. Iraq and Lebanon are the closest things to a regional non-theocracy, and they're not exactly doing as well as they ought to.
