@NorthernMike-1 . So, no problem with requiring ID? The entire point is to make it harder to vote. Think that maybe not allowing university or school ID is to make it harder to vote? My point is, it is a conservative method to disenfranchise the people whom they think won’t vote for them. Period.

@bradhuffjr777 That’s 36 more than need them.

@southtexasprepper1837 Well, of course it was.

Somehow, had fair elections for over 200 years before Republicans came up with Voter ID to suppress the vote. Yes, those picture IDs are deliberately expensive and difficult to obtain, if you’re poor or old. Republicans think only Democrats are poor or don’t have transportation to their off site locations that are the only places to get the IDs.

@chipthomas4169 Who I am is an American-born citizen who has voted in the U.S. since 1964. This insistence that somehow “illegal” immigrants or other undocumented residents are voting is a lie. Being a felon is not, by the way, an obstacle to voting in the majority of states, witness the felon Trump. He’s not only voting, he’s being allowed to run for president. I know enough about voting to know that local election commissioners take their responsibilities very, very seriously, regardless of their own party affiliation. Trump losing in 2020 and knowing he’d lost, yet brazenly pretending that he hadn’t, is the reason for all of the lies being perpetrated by conservatives. You are a very gullible person if you really believe that any significant number of voters are actually ineligible to vote.

@chipthomas4169 Chip, you’re ridiculous. Once the election is over and your local election board has the time, so in and discuss your fears. See what they have to say about their efforts to ensure that only eligible citizens are allowed to vote.

@notsojoerogan Old people who don’t have transportation. Poor people who don’t have transportation. College students, because a state picture ID is the only picture ID that is acceptable. People who no longer have their birth certificates in their possession (pretty common.) That’s why the TN legislature made picture IDs expensive and designated locations out on I-40 beyond the bus lines as the only places non-drivers (drivers have picture ID) can obtain the IDs. When we moved here 33 years ago, all we had to show was utility bill in our name, to prove that we lived in this county.
