Divide and rule is what the Tories rely on. Setting workers against each other is a common tactic. The government could end this strike any time they wanted to.

@jujutrini8412 I don't think they care at all whether they get passenger fares or how much they get since their contracts mean the government will pay them, regardless. The taxpayer's wallet is deeper than the magic money tree is high, it seems.

@jujutrini8412 Though it's not really the train companies dragging it out. It's really the government stopping them settling. Thatcher wanted to crush the miners union. Today's Tory government wants to crush the railworkers' unions in order to savagely cost cut on services for the public and terms and conditions and jobs of railworkers. The government actually did an assessment of how long they thought the railworkers could afford to hold out but they were drastically wrong. The rail workers learned from the miners and don't call all out strikes but periodic ones.
