This doesn't explain things at all. British fishermen largely caught fish that Europeans wanted to buy, but there was little demand in Britain for, and a hard Brexit was always going to result in bureaucratic and expensive barriers to selling them to the EU, which would mean they could never get to the EU in a fresh enough condition. The fish the British like to eat is mostly caught by Norwegians around Norway, but Britain didn't manage to get a deal with Norway after Brexit. Nigel should do a bit of research on the fishing industry. In fact he should have done it before Brexit.

When Farage was a MEP in the EU, he only once ever turned up to attend the Fishing Committee, and his continuing ignorance about the fishing industry comes across in this video.

@janetmoreton4607 Just do a bit of research. The British don't eat certain fish types in nearly the same quantity as Europeans do. British fishermen catch more of those types than they can sell in Britain.

A hard Brexit was always going to damage the fishing industry. Fish are only wanted if sold fresh. Most of the fish that British fishermen caught was the kind that Europeans wanted but British people largely did not. A hard Brexit has put too many expensive bureaucratic barriers in the way of selling them to the EU. The fish that the British prefer (cod and other white fish) are normally caught around Norway but Britain failed to get a deal with Norway after Brexit because they would not agree to Norway's conditions. This is a failure of politicians to care about or do research into the fishing industry before Brexit and that includes Farage who still seems to think there's some Brexit gain to be realised, and it also includes fishermen who believed the fairytales being spun.

@andrewkenny4633 None now. UK oysters used to be cleaned in a plant in the Netherlands but since Brexit the UK is not entitled to use that facility and we didn't build one in the UK. I just looked all this stuff up. UK fishermen could have looked it up before voting for Brent.
