Don't be fooled. He may be nice to chat to but his beliefs are no joke.

@michaelmurphy1127 He's no great supporter of the NHS and I've heard him talk about the need to scrap it in favour of an insurance system. I believe he's keen on a laissez faire economic system of the type they have in certain parts of Asia. That would reduce a lot of workers rights and standards of living. We had that in the Victorian age and generations of workers fought since then for their present day rights. He's cagey about what he's for rather than what he's against but he was a Trump supporter and is on the right of the political spectrum so it's fairly clear which type of economy he prefers. In a video from his “Common Sense” speaking tour, Farage is seen calling for an insurance-based system of healthcare dictated by market forces rather than central government. He said: “I think we’re going to have to think about healthcare very very differently. “And I think we’re going to have to move to an insurance-based system of healthcare.

@michaelmurphy1127 I have already given you the references to find the evidence which was captured on film or video. I'm not going to do the donkey work for you. Nigel is very good at taking a populist stance and saying what he's against (which is easy). He's careful not to say what he's for but pretty well all people that far right are for a laissez faire economy and I know what it means. If an economy is largely unregulated with not much of a welfare state, that means a worse life for ordinary working people as they always take the brunt of economic downturns while the rich tax avoiders are largely able to ride out the storms. The pressures in unregulated capitalism are always for cutting costs which means cuts to pay and conditions for workers in real terms. The USA is a good example of wages not rising in real terms for decades.

@michaelmurphy1127 'overrun by socialists'. Lol. Socialists brought about the NHS and many other good things in society. I'm sick of that tired and lazy Tory bullshit that it's 'wasteful and inefficient'. If it is, the Tories with have been in charge of it for long enough with their wasteful and expensive re-organisations so blame them. However when Margaret Thatcher first started saying it was wasteful and inefficient and needed reform, it had admin costs of 6% one of the lowest, if not the lowest in the world. The thing about the NHS and care when you are ill is that it's people heavy (about 70% of NHS costs are staff, or were then. I'm not sure what it is now but it can't be far off because care is delivered by people, by doctors but more frequently by nurses, and that's what people need to feel cared for and get better. Most of the rest of the spending is on drugs, equipment and accommodation. Efficiency in Tory terms means staff cuts. Even today the Tories refuse to publish a 'safe level of staffing' recommendation. As for Farage, I'll try and find that video/film and post it for you. I did hear it myself but it was some time ago and I didn't save it anywhere.

@michaelmurphy1127 The conservatives voted against the establishment of the NHS 21 times before the act was passed. When I'm ill, I want care and competence. Efficiency is not the first thing on my mind, but you have given no examples of 'waste' which you complain about. I assume that the waste of public funds by this government on failed contracts, and contracts that have ripped off the public purse bothers you not a jot. Also, why is it that failing businesses always want government support (which is taxpayer support). If they are so 'efficient' they would not need that. Many have also defrauded the government by claiming furlough payments without putting their staff on furlough.

@michaelmurphy1127 That sort of issue is something that should be raised with the local MP rather than profiting from it at the same time as criticising it.

Sensible financial management is important because the better public finance is managed, the more that can be achieved with it, but sensible financial management is not a theme that's going to set voters hearts on fire.
