Now the medics know more about how best to treat hospital cases and new cases may be seen more in younger people, but though that may mean more people survive it doesn't necessarily mean fewer people ending up in hospital so they are also keeping an eye on the number of hospitalisations and intensive care cases. Survival doesn't also mean back to good health either. There can be longer term after effects. Also older and vulnerable people have been taking precautions more but if it gets out of control even older people won't be able to protect themselves. There is also about a 2 week or more time lag between new rising cases and rising deaths from new cases.
