According to the newspapers, Tories would be voted in again if an election was held now, even though they are making a hash of Brexit. Some people are stuck in Groundhog Day.

'make them as high as you want!'. So you are content for our farming and manufacturing industries to die? We would also be paying tariffs on the imports from them and that will put our cost of living up or wholesalers may decide to go for cheaper goods from elsewhere and who knows what risks there might be in those as other countries don't have to adhere to such high food and safety standards. Do you think our government will be willing to pay for enough public servants to quality check the stuff coming in? The EU has already offered the deal and said they won't be changing it. Even Liam Fox, arch Brexiteer and Minister for trade, says we need a deal rather than a no deal Brexit. If Boris takes us out on a no deal it will be the biggest lesson on the consequences of arrogance and ignorance that we'll be taught but the price won't be paid by the wealthy like Boris and Rees Mogg. It will be paid by ordinary Britons.

@Ravinder Sian You mean it's slowing down now?

@Ravinder Sian I want to leave with a deal, not no deal.

@Ravinder Sian We'll be screwed on free trade deals by bigger nations. Trump says he's ready to deal. I'm sure he is ... on his terms, I bet he has a load of low quality food to dump on us in exchange for American companies getting a slice of NHS action. China today has cancelled a visit by the British chancellor. They are offended by plans the Ministry of Defence outlined, so don't expect any favours from them. Why would the EU give us a trade deal on easier terms than current EU terms? That would undermine the EU as other countries in the EU would leave wanting the same. There's a lot of naivety in the leave camp.

@stoptheworldiwannagetoff4780 We'd have to charge tariffs too under WTO rules. That will put the cost of living up for the British public. We could decide to charge zero tariffs but we can't pick and choose. Whatever tariff we charge or don't charge applies to all trading in the sector and it would kill off our manufacturing and farming as they wouldn't be able to compete on price with those countries who produce their goods more cheaply because their workers have no rights and are paid peanuts. Also 80% of our economy is based on services and 49% of those are sold to the EU but under a hard Brexit, there would be no 'passport' arrangements for those to be sold to the EU. Other trading blocks further away from us are less likely to want our services which they can get from others closer to them and will already have. Why don't you look into this from source material?
