  2. It wasn't the police. Calls to 999 go to an emergency call handler who would then call out whichever emergency service was appropriate - in this case an ambulance.

  3.  @ducky765  If you ring 999 in the UK someone will say 'Emergency Services, which service do you require?' Then you say ambulance, police or fire service. In this video we pick up this call at the point where the girl has been put through to the ambulance service. She probably would not have known about the services but if she said her Mummy had fallen down the stairs they would put her through to the ambulance service.
