How do you prepare for self destruction?

@seyley2901 In the UK Kemi Badenoch was a rising star in the Conservative Party and government. She was the Secretary Estate for Business and Trade. President of the Board of Trade. She was also Minister for Women and Equalities and Secretary of State for International Trade. She's now the Shadow Secretary for Housing, Communities and Local Goverment. She is highly ambitious and a current contender for leadership of the Conservative Pary but she is also highly controversial and divisive, liked and disliked by voters and the party.

Their pay has devalued by 25% since the Tories came to power but rents and rates and the cost of living is going up and has been going up for some time. They spent years qualifying at their own expense. Who would do that unless they expect a payback in the form of higher pay? They have life and death responsibilities and put their own lives at risk during the Covid pandemic. Yes everyone needs a cost of living pay rise. The minimum wage is at least scheduled to go up by over 9%. The nurses have not been offered anything near that percentage. The Tory government loves it when workers attack each other rather than them. They are also fighting for the NHS against a government that is allowing it to collapse.

You can search for cases by London Boroughs, but they never break down the figures to smaller areas it seems.
2
@roywatson8133 * wait until they're all in then etc (learn English)
2
@venetiangenoesewarmachine5152 No. You can look up the meaning if you don't know it.
2
the man with the green cortina Nope. Free education service.
2
@TraderBrando I think her questions were aimed at finding out if he was doing what he was supposed to do. The fact that he reacted in a hostile manner to being accountable for what he does, suggests he's not a good representative. He should be able to accept and answer questions as being a normal part of his job, otherwise it might also suggest he's not doing his job and has something to hide.
2
Well she couldn't have a baby if she was his age.
2
@benferriggi9765 So every doctor who takes an oath to 'first do no harm' is forging death certificates? Don't make me laugh. It's not the banks telling us about the virus though, it's the government which you say is getting into more debt, so Covid's no benefit to them.
2
Government by The Giant Hulk. Far be it for me to defend Cox, who often seemed to get his legal advice wrong, but surely his job is to give the correct legal advice rather than being 'a team player'. It's clear why some of them were sacked (i.e what the disagreements were) but there's no information why the women Ministers were sacked. Was it just because they were useless or were there also points of disagreement?
2
Why should that matter? She's a senior qualified nurse whose pay will have devalued by about 25% since the Tories came to power but her London rent will have kept increasing along with the cost of living. Nurses spend years training at their own expense. Some are leaving to work in supermarkets where they can earn more. I bet a lorry driver can earn more than her.

@@Spitfire1969 Why don't you move if you don't like it. It's not just my chest. It's the chests of millions of Londoners and their children.
2
It's a Covid party.
2
@Knowthing Who is 'they' who are telling you? Often you have to make appointments to go to test centres.
2
@Phoenix What do you mean they don't help you? They help if they can. If you mean they don't listen to you, are you explaining things well and being polite about it? Do you have realistic expectations of what they can do for you? It's hard to know what you mean.
2
You can tell he was ill in various videos before he went into hospital and after, he sounds short of breath. This is the trouble when people find they have been so easily gulled by fake news they start to distrust all information they hear, and can no longer tell the truth from lies.
2
It wasn't miraculous. If you've been following the facts he was ill or recovering for quite a while in total - about 3 weeks or more. His fiancée, Carrie, had already had the Covid virus.
2
The Speaker is third in line to the Presidency after the President and the Deputy President, I believe.
2
It was David Cameron (Tory) who introduced the requirement doe cutting pollution that requires Khan to go ahead with this.
2
@chips1889 Boris introduced it but he ceased to be Mayor in 2016. The target requirement set was for 2020. I understand that Cameron set the requirement for air pollution reduction. 'More than 80 per cent of central London would be expected to meet the nitrogen dioxide (NO2) annual EU legal limits in 2020'. So even Boris might have had to extend it if the target was not met.
2
@mickbmx No. I think it's Conservative ineptitude. As part of the EU illegals could be returned to France but that arrangement doesn't apply under Brexit. It made things worse.
2
@johnfletcher1611 Covid affects people with underlying conditions (such as diabetes, COPD and obesity) more than those without. That's true, but the way it affects them can mean it damages their organs even if those organs were healthy beforehand. Look at the science or listen to what medics say.
2
Where did he go? He didn't look that old. Actually he looks like Postman Pat's cat.
2
Or you can always do a quick exit rather than a slow undignified decline with asset stripping as a part of that.
2
@biggusdickkus2956 I think they identify with them because of the patriotic ballyhoo, personal aspiration to 'get on' in life and, attitudes to immigrants. It's the party for the 'not interested in politics' and the 'not thinking or knowing very much'.
2
Eh? What are you on about.
2
When Chris Philp said there was a safety net clause preventing people being sent to a country where they are in danger of risk to life I wondered how does that square with the Tories legal declaration that Rwanda is a safe country to deport people to? I don't believe that people from Congo would not be sent to Rwanda.
2
@stevenmacdonald9619 Don't you trust a democratic justice system? If they weren't illegally murdering folk, they'd nothing to fear.
2
The figures are also probably understated since some countries count the deaths better than others and are more honest about the death numbers than others.
2
They need to do their jobs properly.
2
@natyak5641 No it's the other way around. Though cockneys may drop the letter h at the beginning of a word and sometimes add one which is not there, the name of the letter itself is 'aitch' and not 'haitch'.
2
@1chish Cox gave the wrong advice on more than one occasion. I followed it at the time but I've forgotten the detail now. I did listen to the full judgement of the Supreme Court. Their role is to interpret the law and that's what they did. They didn't make one up. The judgement was evidence based and Boris made the mistake of giving his supposed reasonable (lawful) reason for proroguing Parliament and then not submitting any evidence to back that up, in spite of the Supreme Court's request for evidence. He shot himself in the foot either through incompetence or more likely because the evidence didn't exist. As for Andrea Leadsom, we have different opinions, that's all
2
Well my reaction is that as a public representative taking taxpayer's money, he's meant to be accountable and able to answer questions and regard questions as normal. If he can't cope with that maybe he's in the wrong job or has something to hide. How would you react if a colleague at work swore about you and suggested there was 'something wrong with you' when you were just doing your job.
2
@freelanceart1019 Boris a communist? What planet are you on?
2
That's because the government and the MSM are following the science, as far as it's known, and not conspiracy theories. Science is verifiable. The whole world is not involved in a conspiracy.
2
How?
2
'Wilf' is o.k
2
Yeah. All those thousands of people in India dying from the new variant. Great actors I suppose in your mindset.
2
@Firitesen Nobody ever dies from a virus or a bacteria. They die from the damage these things cause. If they didn't have Covid their organs would not have been damaged so Covid is given as the cause of death. We need to keep track of deaths caused by Covid so we can take measures to prevent them. If doctors didn't distinguish between non Covid patients who died from lung disease or heart attacks, and patients with Covid who died of lung disease or heart attacks we would not have the data to monitor or control the virus. I don't understand why people look to pointlessly split hairs. Another things is, that if you have a heart condition but no Covid you will be in a different ward, hospital area or hospital to prevent you getting Covid. That's important too because your chances or survival would definitely reduce if you contracted Covid on top of such existing conditions.
2
Unfortunately spines are no help with the Coronavirus and people won't have spines for long if they are dead.
2
@deanthorpe1684 Yes. It was written in the imperative tense.
2
@deanthorpe1684 He wasn't able to get out. He had carers visiting him so it seems he caught it from his carers. His symptoms weren't classic. He had a lot of pain in his legs and was taken into hospital where he tested positive for Covid. Pain can be a symptom but it's not one the government mentions as a main one. I was reading Private Eye (the MD in there is very good). He said that a lot of people's Covid symptoms don't match the 3 mentioned by the government and other symptoms a lot of people get are fatigue and headaches. In March this year 3 of our household had fatigue and headaches that lasted about 3 weeks. I now wonder whether we had Covid then.
2
@michelgobets3803 It's about the consensus of the majority of scientists - such as those in SAGE or WHO. You can always find a few dissenters any any group.
2
@tomhayes750 Thanks for that info.
2
EpicGurth I wasn't referring to Varadkar.
2
@syncj838 You don't prepare by being quiet.
1
Yes, It's Boris dictating from number 10 now what the level of spending will be and on what (vanity?) projects. The Chancellor will just have to go along with that, however unrealistic and be expected to 'balance the books'. Cue either more savage cuts to balance the books or failure to balance the books and more economic chaos.
1
@spartacusmills3569 *you mean 'what you are talking about'? What I've said is common knowledge coming from medical experts and scientists.
1
Ivan Gromov At this time of Covid, I don't support any event that creates crowds with no distancing and no masks.
