I think the doctors know more than you when they give reasons for deaths.

@Firitesen Nobody ever dies from a virus or a bacteria. They die from the damage these things cause. If they didn't have Covid their organs would not have been damaged so Covid is given as the cause of death. We need to keep track of deaths caused by Covid so we can take measures to prevent them. If doctors didn't distinguish between non Covid patients who died from lung disease or heart attacks, and patients with Covid who died of lung disease or heart attacks we would not have the data to monitor or control the virus. I don't understand why people look to pointlessly split hairs. Another things is, that if you have a heart condition but no Covid you will be in a different ward, hospital area or hospital to prevent you getting Covid. That's important too because your chances or survival would definitely reduce if you contracted Covid on top of such existing conditions.

@mynameismyname7795 They may be at higher risk not necessarily because they are BAME but because as a group, they are highly represented among key workers who worked through the pandemic, they may live in poorer circumstances in more crowded accommodation where it's hard to self distance - lots of reasons. Apparently the worst BAME Covid death rates are among South East Asians and South East Asians have a higher rate of diabetes which is a high risk factor for Covid death. That may be from genetic predisposition or from diet.

sunshineuk1965 Or perhaps science rather than conspiracy thinking.

@secretbillionaire463 Covid causes organ damage which kills.

@secretbillionaire463 True. Your point is?

@Team_Banchamek How do you know that they die of something that has nothing to do with Covid? How do you expect Covid to kill people? What would be the signs? It destroys people's organs and that's what kills them - could be lungs, heart, kidney or liver failure.

@Firitesen Well surely this info is coming from medics not from journalists making things up? That would not be news.

@mrbishooo3781 Just to clarify. When people die from the damage caused by Covid, it's perfectly valid to say that Covid was the cause of death.

@mrbishooo3781 Yes but they wouldn't necessarily die of them quickly without Covid causing more damage. Usually there's an explanation on death certificates. They would not just say Covid but something like heart attack caused by Covid (but in more medical terms). As I said before, if we don't keep track on death certificates of Covid as a cause, how are we going to track and prevent Covid which does hasten deaths? I have diabetes. I've had it for 10 years. I could live with it for another 20 years or more but if I caught Covid it could kill me within days. It would be valid to include Covid as a cause of death on my death certificate.
