Comments by "Helen Trope" (@heliotropezzz333) on "Coronavirus UK: Au0026E visits down more than 40% due to Covid 19" video.
People who can't be arsed to go to their GP and turn up at A&E for minor ailments are no longer going there for fear of catching Covid 19. Also with more people at home and bars and pubs not open there are fewer work accidents and fewer accidents due to alcohol consumption and drunken fighting.

@Phoenix What exactly does it go to show? Do tell us.

@Knowthing Who is 'they' who are telling you? Often you have to make appointments to go to test centres.
2
@Phoenix What do you mean they don't help you? They help if they can. If you mean they don't listen to you, are you explaining things well and being polite about it? Do you have realistic expectations of what they can do for you? It's hard to know what you mean.

@scottm5425 I thought Scotland was on top of Covid now and had plans for getting back to normal. Maybe too slow for your liking. Check what Stugeon is saying. we don't get much Scottish news down here but I know she was talking about it recently.

@Phoenix People don't understand that the reason hospitals weren't packed is because normal work was largely suspended so that hospitals could deal with covid and covid patients were kept in particular areas to avoid contaminating whole hospitals. Staff had to be diverted to treat Covid patients either at their own hospitals or other designated ones. A&E visits were also down by as much as 40% as people either didn't really need to go there or were afraid of catching covid. Then there's the fact that with people at home and pubs closed, work and alcohol fuelled accidents would be down, also street crime like stabbings.

@krielle3877 Some of these will end up in A&E but some will be dealt with by social care. A lot of people may be drinking while watching tv, and that's a safer place to be drunk. There may be a lot of people suffering abuse who aren't known about at this time and don't appear in hospital. Housework has always been done. It shouldn't result in more accidents. Suicides won't be going to hospital though some attempted suicides might. I'm sure some stats will be issued eventually that will show what's been happening.

@krielle3877 The government may distort statistics or present them in self serving ways but the people who produce statistics such as the ONS are professional and don't allow political tampering with the source statistics. It's always possible to go to the source. If you have faith in nothing then there is no truth, or if there is you won't find it or will never be sure you've found it. Science is validated through the fact that experiments and results of research are independently verifiable and repeatable.

@AsimKhan-ch2mo That's a bit shocking. She should speak to the doctors. I guess she's not one of the staff who deals with covid patients.

@krielle3877 250k and 2 millions predictions were if there were no lockdowns. I suppose if you get Covid 19 you'll be relying on prayer and no medical help in line with your beliefs.

@prince57able Have you actually read the comments?

@carveh13 Hmm! I'm trying to think. I work on the basis that things will usually get worse and plan for that. I've not been wrong on that score. When someone points me to genuine facts that show I'm wrong about something, I apologise but it doesn't happen often because I like to keep up with events. Also I usually look up facts myself before I comment or I know them from looking things up previously or because I've worked in close connection with the NHS. It's easy to find reputable sources of information if you have the desire to look for them. I'm also a NHS patient at the moment.

@tonytucker7359 Are you related to Little Tommy Tucker who sang for his supper?
1
@wattage2007 Well, at least you don't have a bad Covid problem now. England went through the mill what with Boris flip flopping and changing tactics all the time.
1
@wattage2007 That surprises me. If you are referring to me, my favourites list is open. Click on playlists. I think the no content message refers to the fact that I haven't created or uploaded any videos of my own.
1
@wattage2007 Maybe not, but who is better equipped to judge than doctors? In any case the 'excess deaths figure is independent corroborating evidence.
1
@tonytucker7359 No I don't know him, except by his reputation, but I imagine his surname is rhyming slang.
