  1. Because it takes time to distinguish economic migrants from refugees. There are international obligations on refugees but not on economic migrants. However if they don't do the work to establish which is which, the courts will stop any removals.

  4. So many people on this channel know nothing about international law and they vote and comment on the basis of knowing nothing. You could look it up if you could be bothered.

  5.  @elrjames7799  If refugees/asylum seekers make it to this shore they have legal rights under various international agreements. Their method of entry then becomes irrelevant in legal terms. Only those entering illegally who are not refugees/asylum seekers, can be deported but the government has to have done the work to distinguish who is who. otherwise courts can stop deportations.

  6.  @elrjames7799  Well I guess that's what Priti Patel is planning to do but we are currently going through the Brexit withdrawal period so we are still keeping to those agreements until January 2021 at least. However changing that will mean we will turn everyone away that enters illegally including genuine refugees/asylum seekers.
