Boris is only interested in obedience. That's 'success' on his terms.

@Inaflap And spaffing the economy up the wall.

I think he has the kind of 'liberal' economic views that Boris has, and probably has the ambition that means he'll do what he's told by number 10. If Johnson is going to dictate spending and then expect the Chancellor to take the flak by 'balancing the books', we could either be in for more savage cuts or a chaotic economy.

Cox kept giving the wrong legal advice but it was what Boris wanted to hear. Perhaps he started to give the right legal advice and Boris didn't want to hear it. That's what they usually mean by 'not a team player'. Leadsom is both dim and also only wanted power because it's useful to her brother the hedge fund manager, and I think her husband also has business relations with him.

Government by The Giant Hulk. Far be it for me to defend Cox, who often seemed to get his legal advice wrong, but surely his job is to give the correct legal advice rather than being 'a team player'. It's clear why some of them were sacked (i.e what the disagreements were) but there's no information why the women Ministers were sacked. Was it just because they were useless or were there also points of disagreement?

@stevenmacdonald9619 Don't you trust a democratic justice system? If they weren't illegally murdering folk, they'd nothing to fear.

@1chish Cox gave the wrong advice on more than one occasion. I followed it at the time but I've forgotten the detail now. I did listen to the full judgement of the Supreme Court. Their role is to interpret the law and that's what they did. They didn't make one up. The judgement was evidence based and Boris made the mistake of giving his supposed reasonable (lawful) reason for proroguing Parliament and then not submitting any evidence to back that up, in spite of the Supreme Court's request for evidence. He shot himself in the foot either through incompetence or more likely because the evidence didn't exist. As for Andrea Leadsom, we have different opinions, that's all

Yes, It's Boris dictating from number 10 now what the level of spending will be and on what (vanity?) projects. The Chancellor will just have to go along with that, however unrealistic and be expected to 'balance the books'. Cue either more savage cuts to balance the books or failure to balance the books and more economic chaos.

That's probably the least relevant aspect of the changes, but someone was bound to come out with that knee jerk comment.

@TheLemonadedrinker Agreed. However I'm sure there are plenty of crawlers to be found or people who see eye to eye with Boris. They will also be useful scapegoats if things go wrong and highly 'replaceable'.

@stevenmacdonald9619 Agreements to end wars often require compromises.
