Yes, they have their own sly agenda to put as many obstacles as possible in the way of Ireland ever becoming united, although the Good Friday Agreement allows for it with the consent of the majority in NI. A hard border would break the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. Also NI voted to stay in the EU, and he, its elected representative, doesn't even want a customs union with the EU. It does not have to be THE customs union. I.e it doesn't have to be the same customs union. The DUP doesn't seem that interested in peaceful democratic solutions in Ireland. More like they are itching to use any trouble stirred up by a hard border to impose more violent solutions. I'm not sure that's what their constituents would want though.

  2.  @laurejon  It surprises me that you say that about the EU. The EU has led the world in trying to get international protocols to cut carbon emissions and has followed agreements and more stringent rules to save the environment than other continents or trading blocks. Of course they could do more. The whole world could do more. America and emerging economies in Asia, such as China are big polluters too.
