@lynnm.9243 It's up to you whether you have the vaccine or not. One thing that weighed with me is that over a million people in the UK are now suffering with Long Covid, which is long term symptoms or damage. That represents about 25% of those who have had Covid. I've had vaccinations throughout my life so I didn't get polio and I didn't get smallpox and now smallpox has been eradicated from the world because of the vaccination. Not everything in medicine is bad, but people must be informed of the risks and make their own minds up.

@lynnm.9243 It's up to you. You don't have to justify yourself to me. I just put forward arguments for the vaccine but it's an individual decision whether to have it or not.

So you better be sure you are not putting anything into anyone else's body.

@megatim74 I don't think that anyone will be forced to take the vaccine but if time and data prove that vaccination significantly lowers the risk of transmitting the virus, then it will be the unvaccinated who are most in danger of contracting it from other unvaccinated people, and they will need to be more cautious in order to protect themselves and others, just as before the vaccine was available.

@lynnm.9243 They are not sure yet how long immunity lasts from having had Covid. About 6 months has been suggested, and it's not clear whether it would give immunity to other variants. I'm sure more info about that will come out as time goes on. It's not that there's something rotten in the state of Denmark. It's more that they're taking a belt and braces approach. Looking just at a 98% survival rate is not taking into account: 1) that hospital treatment has prevented the rate from being higher. If hospitals ever get overwhelmed, the rate would be much higher; 2) that we've had over 4 million Covid cases and from those there are over 1 million Covid survivors who have 'Long Covid' i.e. long term symptoms or permanent damage. 3) The Indian variant which we have in places and which could spread and become dominant, seems to affect younger people more seriously too and is more transmissable.

@lynnm.9243 Before there were vaccines, sanitation, health services and easy access to food, the history of mankind is that its numbers were low and didn't increase until very recently (in historical terms). When I was born there were 2 billion people on Earth. Now there are 7 billion. Vaccines are one of the things that enabled the population to survive and have longer lifespans. I have had cancer twice and developments in science (chemicals to treat it) have saved me. I was willing to take the risk on the vaccine because the serious side effects are rare but the risk of Covid is much higher for me. I also have diabetes and asthma.

@lynnm.9243 I would say do not let fear be your deciding factor in not getting vaccinated either. I think it would have been a harder decision to make if I was a lot younger. Yes they had to rush this vaccine out and Astra Zeneca anyway was supplying it at cost rather than profit. It had to pass through the regulatory approval system and the quid pro quo for getting it out as quickly as possible, is probably for governments to issue indemnities to companies against being sued. Now we find there can be some blood clotting problems in some people but it's rare and the vaccine has undoubtedly saved many lives. It's about individuals knowing and assessing the risk before making up their minds, but if you take any prescription medicine at all, I'd be surprised if there were many that don't list some possible serious side effects but they will be rare. A medicine would not be allowed on the market if serious side effects were common, and remember nothing in this life is risk free.

@UnrealTournament420 Actually many people suffering from long Covid were not ill or elderly before catching Covid.. The young and able bodied have suffered from it too. Perhaps you might be interested in this video if your mind is not closed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfv9zsKJquk&list=FLGGEn5ziDGQqNRr1m3pwHBg&index=75&t=25s Why are there so many excess deaths around the world? It doesn't matter whether you believe in Covid or not. The stats about excess deaths are undeniable. Here are worldly death figures (not excess deaths) which are said to be understated -very understated for India by people on the ground witnessing the extent of funerals and the bodies floating in the Ganges. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

@davidhyatt7772 Do you disregard people over 65 then? Are they of no significance to you - disposable? Also you forget to mention 'long Covid'. i.e 25% of Covid survivors in the UK are left with long term symptoms or long term damage and that affects younger people too. If Covid is allowed to spread rampantly, new variations arise. The latest variation (Indian) spreads 50% more easily and also affects younger people more. There's no reason to be complacent about Covid. As for smallpox, many who survived were scarred for life including on the face.

@UnrealTournament420 People aren't destroying their immune systems by wearing masks. Wherever did you get that barmy idea from? There's been a lot more hand washing and that may have saved people from flu. Covid is more of an airborne disease and there's a theory that viruses compete so where one dominates another will not take hold. I don't know which funeral parlours you've been ringing or where. Seems like an odd thing to do. Perhaps you are in a low Covid area. There are definitely excess deaths because there are excess death certificates and death registrations, so where do you suggest all these excess dead people are being buried or cremated?
1
@UnrealTournament420 No I don't disregard them but there are not nearly as many as there are who have died or been damaged by Covid. In the UK at least 127,000 people have died from Covid and over a million Covid survivors are suffering from 'Long Covid'.Many of these are under 65. I'm sure you can find the figures if you search. Then compare those figures to the numbers adversely suffering from being vaccinated. Also Covid gives blood clots to way more people than the vaccination does. Nothing in life is risk free. We just have to try and understand the relative risks before making decisions.

@UnrealTournament420 I've not seen those videos. I've seen plenty on the chaos being caused by Covid but I do know that the Indian government has been arresting Indian people who post information on social media showing the damage or telling of how oxygen is running out. I'm sure they have put out some propaganda videos of their own, or perhaps they are old videos showing India before Covid, or are in parts of India not so affected. Who knows? Anyway the Indian government does gather and post Covid stats. Here they are on an International stats site https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

@margoty5654 I'm sorry that someone is feeling like crap for a week. That does not mean that everyone feels like crap for a week. We are all different. I've not heard of anyone else suffering for so long. That's not to say that it won't happen sometimes.

@lynnm.9243 Certainly.
