Apparently the Horizon system was not an accounting system but a database which is one of the reasons for some of its problems. It wasn't a fit for purpose system and Fujitsu never consulted end users in creating the system. The Post Office should have insisted on that. At some point she knew that the Horizon system had flaws because the Post Office itself hired 'Second Sight' , in July 2012, to look into it and then sacked them when they reported the flaws. The P.O. didn't want to know. She didn't want to know.

@davidclark1545 If pardoned would they get the same compensation? I don't think they would want a 'guilty' tag in their past record.

@johnf3885 I don't think it can 'overrule' the judiciary except by changing the law. After all one of the basic protections of the democratic system is the separation of powers between the executive, the legislative and the judiciary.

@neilpickup237 At present retrials can only happen on an individual basis and there were over 700 people charged I understand. I'm not sure that offering no evidence would dismiss the evidence previously offered and considered by the courts. The process is through the courts of appeal showing how the previous trial was faulty or that new evidence has come to light that would exonerate people - a slower process.
