I guess they'll say Winston Churchill but I hope they don't miss out Clement Attlee.

I suppose it was Truss's to lose, given the results of membership surveys which show her as more popular among party members, but at the hustings, it seems Sunak often comes out ahead, so she may in fact be doing more damage to her reputation in these events. However there's always the racist element of the party who aren't going to go for him.

As a result we've got more read tape and more non viable businesses.

@_Stroda I read an interview with him where he actually admitted that he earns his living by being a contrarian. That was after the interviewer caught him out in a contradiction.

@tomben6180 👍 Thanks

Neil just doesn't want competition for his populist channel.

What? It's been all over the news including the BBC. I've seen it on the BBC online.

@chrisstone5743 I'm sure I've seen it as headline news at the time when the EU invoked article 16 and tried to reduce the supply of vaccines to NI. The EU quickly backed down from that though, so it soon dropped out of the headlines. Continuing to report on it after that would just be gloating over the EU's mistakes. The BBC doesn't do gloating. Plenty of other media do that.

@KEEP BRITAIN FREE Add back all the people who've had Covid and never been tested.
1
@Terry pipe Perhaps because they've been protecting themselves better as a result of Covid but I wouldn't say nobody got the flu. It's just not attracting as much publicity. * It's flu not flue. A flue is a duct for smoke and waste gasses.
1
@Davemac1116 Not true. The excess deaths figure indicates how many people have died of Covid. The average deaths figure indicates those that have died from the usual causes.
1
@Terry pipe Touché. Well spotted (see my pun). I did mean been but 'all is bene that ends bene'. I've corrected it now.

Even his voice is depressing.

Clowns behaving like clowns. Who'd have thought.

If 95% of adults in England and Scotland are estimated to have antibodies, how is it that so many people are still catching Covid. Where does that estimate come from? Surely Whitty is concerned with the fast spread of Omicron (as it spreads much faster than Delta) will outpace the ability to roll out booster vaccines fast enough, and the protections of previous vaccines do wear off after a time.

Starting a sentence with 'so'. No. Tory Party members love a giveaway. Truss obviously believes they are bribable and many of them are too bigoted to vote for Sunak

His voice probably annoys people because it indicates he comes from a privileged background, never a good attribute when telling others less fortunate than he how they should live their lives and how society should be run. His absolute certainty is annoying. No self doubt, no humility when he has at least once in his life completely changed his views. He was once a socialist. What he overlooks when he dismisses 'rehabilitation' is that many prisoners are illiterate and can change their lives by getting an education. He doesn't seem to know the meaning of the concept. He reminds me of a hamster.

The police police according to the law. It's not the police that are politicised, only Murray. Local communities have some say in policing priorities through police commissioners. Policing in the UK is by consent which is why they try to stay close to communities. The Tories were responsible for the reduction of 20,000 police posts since they came to power in 2010 forcing police to prioritise more ruthlessly and lower the priority of some crimes where evidence to catch perpetrators was not found (e.g. in burglary cases). What exactly is Murray complaining about in Leicester? If the problem was resolved without deaths, without many injuries and without significant damage to property that might otherwise have occurred, maybe the police strategy was correct. Does he believe in top down centralist control of the police? What a whiner. That's all he does now, whines according to his own prejudices. Perhaps he pines for the days when the police were seen to be there primarily to defend his class. He's a bit hypocritical too having a go at LGBT officers. Would he prefer that they were discriminated against instead? What a plonker. What a way to earn his living.

@FlapJack NI They've not been using NI as a weapon, just upholding The Good Friday Agreement which the UK is also signed up to.
1
@FlapJack NI Who? Where? There are probably arseholes on both sides but was that an official position? To my mind there is no Brexit solution to NI because the Good Friday Agreement which was signed up to by the UK, NI, The Republic of Ireland, the USA and the EU forbids a hard border on the island of Ireland. The nationalists also don't want a border there. Under the terms of Brexit we came out of the EU customs union so there have to be customs checks between the EU and the UK. The solution offered by the EU and accepted by the UK was to have a 'border' in the Irish Sea but the loyalists in NI don't like that and are kicking up about it. There's no solution to please everyone in the UK and NI, while NI is part of the UK. NI also voted to stay in the EU in the 2016 Brexit Referendum. Loyalists don't like the 'border' between Britain and NI (in the Irish Sea) because they think it makes a United Ireland more likely. They want a border on the island of Ireland because they think it makes a United Ireland less likely so there is an underlying political agenda on both sides as well as trade considerations.

@galleon1968 That's an accent you are referring to. Accents are perfectly legitimate. Tories may speak more in received pronunciation but they also talk more bollocks.
