  3. TheRedScourge. Sadly I don't have the power of a President to change things. I don't drive - never have- though I do use buses and trains when necessary. Eating and drinking can be done organically in biodegradable ways. I do buy stuff, but probably less than average. I don't particularly enjoy shopping. We may not be able to eliminate pollution but we can reduce it.

  8. Let's face it. War makes good profits for those behind the military. Not so good for those on the front line. In the eyes of the world the USA is no more trustworthy now than when it broke all its treaties and agreements with the Native Americans.

They are living on a strip of land subject to an economic blockade ever since they were kicked off their land by the Israelis with huge levels of unemployment and no hope. They are not even allowed to leave. They are desperate enough to risk death in order to protest. Israel claims to be a democracy but doesn't allow democratic rights such as the right to protest without being killed. The day of Trump's self congratulatory opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem, is the day that Palestinians remember the loss of their land by force. He couldn't have chosen a more inflammatory day. All the options for peaceful resolution on the table, involved the sharing of Jerusalem. Trump has blown those options out of the water. He's like a bull in a china shop. What would you do if you were a Palestinian?

  13. Bob Hager. I didn't say it wasn't hatred. I said it wasn't about Muslims hating Jews for being Jews. It's about Palestinians hating Israel for stealing their land and trapping them in a small strip of land (Gaza) which they subject to an economic blockade.

  15. Bob Hager. I believe in a God who has promised me your land. Please leave your land immediately or be forced out by violence. I have God on my side so you can't complain can you? I will also reject all attempts at any compromise solutions so we can share the land by agreement. I will take better care of your land than you and prosper more because maximising prosperity matters to me. All of this justifies me taking your land and Trump is now on my side, so be quiet or be shot. By the way, most of the international community say that what I am doing is illegal but I take no notice of that, I just develop nuclear weapons to intimidate anyone who disagrees with me. P.S I am fearful of revenge now that I've taken your land so I am going to lock you up somewhere with no prospects of escape and no means of gaining the resources to oppose me. It was my ancestors who contacted and wrote about this God who said I could have your land.

  16. Rob Donaldson. You have been swallowing too much Trump and Israeli propaganda. It was a protest. Palestinian people have enough grievances to protest about without being "controlled" by anyone. Their land was taken off them. They are imprisoned on the Gaza Strip under economic blockade. They are not allowed to leave or to thrive. There is high unemployment as a result and no hope for the future. The Israeli government does not want to negotiate peace because it does not want to compromise over land and it continues to build settlements that are regarded as illegal by the majority of the world. If the Palestinians protest they are shot, although protest is meant to be allowed in democratic systems and the Israeli government prides itself on being a "democracy". The Israeli government is full of cant and hypocrisy.

  17. Bob Hager. You are right that it was the United Nations that created Israel. They adopted a plant to partition Palestine, at the time, to create a Jewish state and an Arab state. This is where the term Palestinians comes from. I understand the need, following the events of WW2, for there to be a homeland for Jews where they could feel safe. I think there could have been negotiated settlements by now had there been the will to do so but following partition Israel has continued to expand to occupy Arab lands and farms illegally and to build illegal settlements and then to imprison Palestinians on the Gaza strip and introduce an economic blockade. Interestingly the West Bank which is Arab or mainly Arab, co-operates with Israel but the risk is now that they may withdraw their co-operation. Trump really is like a bull in a china shop when it comes to foreign policy.
