  2. A long time go, Aldous Huxley wrote a dystopian science fiction book called 'Brave New World' where the population is on a drug called 'soma' that keeps them happy. When you said they want people on drugs it reminded me of that.

The reason the welfare state e.g. health and social security and universal suffrage came to be supported by governments (or at least they gave way to it) is because the governments were keen to prevent revolution having seen what happened in France and realised these arrangements should do that. So on the one side people and unions were pushing for it and striking and protesting for it and on the other side governments realised it was a useful move in stabilising society and their resistance reduced. Trump and Musk have not learned from history. Are they even aware of history and how they are playing with fire. Capitalism thrives best in stable societies not unpredictable unstable ones.

  15. I think by 'Parasite Class' they may be referring to anyone who relies on state benefits or federal programs not just the civil servants or agencies that administered them.

  17. They want to fire people to save money so they have enough financial headroom to make tax cuts for the wealthy and maybe cut the deficit but I think the former is more important to them.
