If Labour get the economy growing again and the cost of living down or pay goes up, these people will start voting Tory again I fear. They will fall for the siren call of the Tories who claim to support aspiring workers to reach their ambitions. Most think of individual circumstances and not the welfare of the country as a whole.

@SillySausage2024 Those are the children (other people's children) that will be looking after the childfree when the childfree hit the care home stage or need social services. Children of the next generation pay the tax to fund the pensions of the older generation, the state pensions that everyone gets. They are also providing the cheap services that allow those with money (the childfree) to live a nice life.

@SillySausage2024 They may have elderly parents who'll need care or have family members with health issues. Why would we want to meet everyone that public tax funded services are helping?

@woodentie8815 Most hospitals are in big cities. Where do you expect nurses to live? Even if they could live somewhere commutable rail fares keep going up more than inflation and rail travel is getting more unreliable.

@SillySausage2024 I don't think that will be the main determiner. Actually AI will be more of a threat to jobs unless we find a way to fairly share the profits generated by AI across society more generally.

@SillySausage2024 Corporations will make vase profits from AI at first when it's fully deployed. How will it increase people's qualities of life if there is a huge pool of unemployed whose jobs have been replaced with AI? What will that quality of life consist of with no income and therefore no choices? Who will Corporations eventually make profits from once there are fewer and fewer people who can afford to buy their products and services? Will there be a wealthy elite who will sell products to each other for high prices and a large pool of people who will serve them for just food and lodging or will society come up with some fairer solution?

@woodentie8815 It's hard when people feel strongly about things. They tend to miss the joke. Perhaps you should have used smiley emojis.

@DavidCodyPeppers. In what respect, because we'll desperately need escapism?
