The contenders so far: the best of them are mediocre and the rest are awful.
10
Eh? It's about the Tories trying to save their skins at future elections.
8
They can't do the impossible or save the stupid from their stupidity and they should not be asked to break the law. The government can change the law for f*ck's sake if they don't like it.
7
Why not take a trip there yourself then?
7
@user-nj6us2kw4j Good luck to them. As most of their country is now a hell hole thanks to Israel, I don't begrudge people finding happiness if they can, where they can. It's therapy and you know, eating is normal. People need to do it though the Israelis are doing their best to stop them.
5
@Steve Bray Too late I fear. The time for that was the election.
5
Where else can they go?
4
@commiehunter7964 You lack vocabulary and have no knowledge of history or politics it seems since the Nazis were the ones for suppressing any opposition - just like Boris seems to want to do. The BBC has an educational remit. You might find that useful for yourself.
3
Ricky Gervais endorsed Jeremy Corbyn's leadership of the Labour Party in 2017. He's not anti-left.
3
If you want more right wing entertainers, there's always Jim Davidson.
3
Yeah, then it would be free of government pressure.
3
The issue is Boris's constant lying which the voters are sick of and would cause a lot of Conservatives to lose their seats if they carry on supporting him. How can they still claim to be the party of law and order to voters?
3
Oh dear, paranoia reigns. Sky News and Investigative Journalism? That's an oxymoron or perhaps just a moron.
3
And what exactly would be the economic benefits of a 'no deal Brexit'? It's hard to see any benefits on the horizon so far.
3
And Boris will now give you a kicking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24du25osgRY
3
@mariogmajner6549 That's just a meaningless slogan. This is what it means to Boris. This is what you're now getting and don't say you weren't warned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24du25osgRY
3
OMG. He must think Rishi's been in long enough and it's his turn. It's the Minister for the 19th century, raring to take us back there. Not 'The Man who Knew Too Much' but 'The Man Who Knows Nothing'. I can see the film now and it's a horror.
3
@edwardcullen1739 What communist masters - like Boris you mean? They serve the Queen and have no masters other than the government of the day. I see the government now wants to use them as scapegoats. Well good luck because the civil servants are the ones who implement government policy, though they can't do the impossible. If the government attacks the civil service that will be like cutting their own legs off. I shall watch the results with amusement.
2
Anne* No one can possibly lie more than Boris. He was sacked from various journalist jobs for being a liar and he continues to lie. In fact the reason he wants to privatise Channel 4 is because they called him 'a proven liar' and he can't have TV channels speaking the truth to the 'plebs' now can he?
2
@MrNed09 I don't think I'm easily brainwashed and I Iook at a variety of news sources. Sorry if you feel vulnerable to brainwashing. Boris is a snowflake if he can't take some questioning and challenge from the media.
2
He didn't defend the attack on Israel. He condemned it but he started talking about the historical context for this and the equivalence between the lives of Palestinian and Israeli children and she didn't like that and tried to silence him.
2
Yes, What we want is politicians who are asleep on the job. I think we've got quite a few of them now.
2
A millionaire's socialism? Don't make me laugh. You don't know the meaning of the word.
2
If you saw the whole interview, what JRM said was just 'windbaggery'. He's good at that and diverting the conversation from the issue at hand because he came up with no justification for not levying a windfall tax on energy companies when even the CEs of those companies are embarrassed by their sudden wealth, calling their own companies, 'cash making machines' as Neil pointed out. France was also a country that levied a windfall tax and held their energy price rises to 4% only.
2
@daffyddduck2419 It wasn't so much their wish as perhaps their only option. I'm sure they'd rather their homes were still standing and their infrastructure still worked and their kids and hospitals weren't being bombed.
2
Good. Creeps need to have the creeps.
2
He doesn't need to make things up. Here's what's coming now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24du25osgRY
2
What did he say that was anti-semitic?
2
How is what he says antisemitic?
2
@gerardflynn3899 2 minds thought alike.
2
@BLane-xr1ic If there's anyone worse than Truss it's Suella.
2
Yeah, let the BBC be free of government pressure.
2
@Useaname Nah. I think he'll explode like Mr Creosote.
2
@Gimenez528Hz Maybe so, but they didn't do anything about it until the voters kicked off.
2
No wonder he wants to destroy the mainstream media. He's just stated that the economy grew by 73% in 10 years under the Tories, which is a lie. If anyone thinks it's true I challenge you to link the statistical source that proves that. If you believe him, also ask yourself this - why did wages flatline over that period if so much additional wealth was created?
2
What, as high as the Tory government?
2
Neil never suggested we should model our economy on the Italian economy. That was JRM's diversion from the issue of a windfall tax on energy companies, which France also did, by the way.
2
The Tory party should change their name to Toerags Undermine Real Democracy or TURD for short.
2
This is rubbish. The difficulties in NI are not to do with remainers. You understand nothing or you are just content to lie blatantly. The Irish sea border is just a trade border. It's not political. It has no other significance. It's to protect the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 on which the joint assembly in NI is based. After we left the EU, there have to be border controls somewhere to adhere to the Brexit agreement. The GFI means it can't be on the island of Ireland so Boris in his Brexit deal accepted it would be in the Irish Sea and he accepted the NI protocol and the DUP voted for that agreement along with the Tory government. The NI protocol advantages the NI in relation to Britain because it allows goods between the EU and NI free of customs duties and controls. So NI's economy is now booming. The only part of the UK that is. The DUP are rejecting it for political reasons because they fear it brings Irish unity closer but voters have been moving away from the DUP's stance on this. They are no longer the largest party in NI. Sinn Fein is, and the Alliance party, which is not partisan, has picked up a lot of votes from the DUP. The DUP are now acting like toddlers having a tantrum because they got what they agreed to but now say they don't want it. The DUP are the tail trying to wag the dog in NI and causing problems both for NI and for the UK government.
2
Corbyn's problem is he tells the truth and the media crucifies him for it.
2
Some balance in discussion?
2
Jewel Heart Well here's some heartening news for you. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24du25osgRY
2
Javid's certainly got no strategy for UK trade, nor has Boris. He's told his Ministers to come up with plans or face the sack . I look forward to the outcome.
2
In favour of central dictat you mean?
2
I doubt that Ricky Gervais was exposing celebrities because they are left wing. He himself endorsed Jeremy Corbyn's leadership of the Labour Party in 2017.
2
This isn't exactly typical. It's probably the only escape. What about other places in Gaza. Why be so selective?
1
@commiehunter7964 Are you the illegitimate child of Boris? You seem to share his viciousness?
1
@edwardcullen1739 All Departments are impartial. I know. I worked for one. As soon as the government changes the civil service works out what the new government wants and seeks to give it to them, but they can't do the impossible or break the law.
1
@edwardcullen1739 Politicians don't seem to want to be accountable at all. Attacking the civil service in this way is like having servants and kicking them about when you smashed your glass to smithereens and the servants can't put it back looking like new by the next day. Come to think of it, Boris does rather look like Nero.
1
@chickenandmushroompotnoodl3180 Well, you know me not. I never believed myself superior. I only wanted to serve the public but public service is anathema to some people it seems.
