This is rubbish. The difficulties in NI are not to do with remainers. You understand nothing or you are just content to lie blatantly. The Irish sea border is just a trade border. It's not political. It has no other significance. It's to protect the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 on which the joint assembly in NI is based. After we left the EU, there have to be border controls somewhere to adhere to the Brexit agreement. The GFI means it can't be on the island of Ireland so Boris in his Brexit deal accepted it would be in the Irish Sea and he accepted the NI protocol and the DUP voted for that agreement along with the Tory government. The NI protocol advantages the NI in relation to Britain because it allows goods between the EU and NI free of customs duties and controls. So NI's economy is now booming. The only part of the UK that is. The DUP are rejecting it for political reasons because they fear it brings Irish unity closer but voters have been moving away from the DUP's stance on this. They are no longer the largest party in NI. Sinn Fein is, and the Alliance party, which is not partisan, has picked up a lot of votes from the DUP. The DUP are now acting like toddlers having a tantrum because they got what they agreed to but now say they don't want it. The DUP are the tail trying to wag the dog in NI and causing problems both for NI and for the UK government.

@mick1406 What? The Republic of Ireland is in the EU! If you mean between the Republic of Ireland and NI, that would break the Good Friday Agreement.

@mick1406 Are you dim? I'm not howling with rage. I'm expressing logic. As the Republic is in the EU there can't be a border between it and the EU. That's like saying you can separate yourself from you. The rules that apply to the EU apply to the Republic which is in the EU. The protection of the EU border includes protections that apply to the Republic. Boris, Parliament and the DUP all signed up to the trade border in the Irish sea. It is they and the Brexiteers who are the hypocrites. It was the UK that chose to leave the EU, or Wales and England to be more precise. It wasn't an issue of the EU's making. You don't leave a club and expect that club to change according to your whims afterwards,

@mick1406 The Belfast/Good Friday Agreement does not exclude Northern Ireland or Ireland from establishing cross-border checkpoints and other security measures. However, an explicit objective of the UK Withdrawal Agreement is to minimise physical border controls and politically it is known that border controls would risk restarting the troubles in Ireland. The aim of the GFI is to normalise relations between NI and the South to remove those frictions.

@mick1406 It doesn't have to be mentioned specifically if it's inferred.
