This is a misunderstanding. The issue is not the pension age rise for women but the inadequate notification of the changes.

The compensation is not about the change in pension age or the years worked but about the inadequate notification of the age changes which did not allow women to prepare.

That's not the issue at all. The issue is the inadequate notification of the age change.

Compensation is not about the age rise but about the inadequate notification of it.

@janicebirch7522 That's something you could campaign for if there was enough support. However it would probably be difficult and expensive to assess and keep on top of job. You'd probably need a whole department devoted to it like the tax office is devoted to tax affairs.

@stevenaustin8274 Yes if people knew about it but many didn't because they were not notified individually.

@steveohara2919 It would have been adequate if that's what the government had done but they did not do it by individual notification as required, as the Ombudsman found. That's why many people didn't know because not everyone is a news hound.

@alanwilton6806 They didn't have 20 years. They should have been notified individually when the change was decided as would have been normal government procedure for significant pension changes and that's what the Ombudsman found. So many were never aware of the change. Women's careers are much more broken up than men's because of home and childcare responsibilities and sometimes caring for parents or ill husbands. So for most women their pay was less than men's over the course of their careers. More women also did lower paid jobs than men because they didn't have the career trajectory to give them better job and promotion opportunities for reasons I've mentioned above.
