  4.  @jamessones4044  No I don't hope for that. Two wrongs don't make a right and revenge just creates more violence. Justice has to be done and I'm glad the squad has now been abolished. I've a notion police training isn't too good. They should have been trained to calm situations down but they started off aggressively which would have frightened the guy from the off. That needs to be addressed too and not just in one area.

  6.  @dragonfly6908  Rebecca Long Bailey is very 'woke' and I can't see her resonating more with traditional Labour voters. The party voted for Keir Starmer that's clear. Every party has its factions. The Tories have always had them in recent times and Boris Johnson is not popular with many of his MPs. The Tories still got elected though. I lived through the Winter of Discontent and it wasn't as bad as things are now.

  10.  @riansillett2771  The government has been cutting and reducing benefits for years and for Universal credit people have to wait 5 weeks before they get any money at all. The proposal was only asking for an extension to Easter 2021 during the Covid period.

  17.  @luboss0008  You ignoramus! It's the government that funds the police. If they give less to Mayor's and councils then Mayors and councils have less in their budgets for police. Since 2010 government cuts to police budgets have resulted in 20,000 fewer police. Khan actually put some of his London money into those budgets to try and make up for some of the cuts but he doesn't have enough spare money to make up for the scale of government cuts. Also the government has more generally cut central funding to councils by 80% since 2010. They hope that voters will blame local councils and Mayors for the consequences, and by golly they were right on your account.

  19.  @davedave4699  How has he 'screwed over London or destroyed it? He is trying to do something about crime levels. It was the Tory government that cut police budgets massively so that police numbers were cut by 20,000 nationally. Khan actually allocated some extra money to police budgets in London though he could not make up for the scale of government cuts, because he has less money at his disposal than the government does. He also increased stop and search. The government since 2010 has made massive cuts to local government budgets and social services budgets which are managed by local government so many cuts fell on services for youths and facilities used by youths which has driven an upsurge in crime as well as increases in youth unemployment. The government tends to work against Khan rather than with him as they want a Tory mayor in power in future.

  21.  @joba4848  Boris Johnson wasted more money of vanity projects than anyone, including The Garden Bridge and the £1m buses that don't ventilate properly in the Summer months. Also he ought second hand water canons for crowd control which were useless as they are illegal to use in the UK. Khan probably has to spend money on PR to counteract the constant lies and bullshit from people like you.

All Mr Yaxley Lennon had to do was provide evidence to support his allegations that would stand up in court and you can't claim that this case was in any way corrupt based on any cases or mistrials in the past.   29. The first time I moved to Liverpool as a student in the 1970s I was shocked to see a boy walking up a main street in the city with rags wrapped around his feet instead of shoes. I'd never seen such a thing in England before. They have done a lot of work to improve the city in recent years. However they had previously put cheap and boxy buildings right in the centre in squares that had fine heritage architecture. There had been no attempt to preserve the look of the place.

  36.  @jurgen8084  The instructions in the UK were to record Covid as the cause of death when any patient with Covid dies within 28 days regardless of any other cause of death but then those who die after 28 days are not counted at all in Covid figures and the first wave of deaths from Covid in care homes were not counted or deaths at home. In the first wave only hospital deaths were counted. The 'excess death figures' are used as a basis for verifying Covid death figures. Also survival from Covid does not always mean a return to normal good health. Some people suffer from longer term symptoms and it's not yet clear whether any of these will be permanent but certainly some permanent lung damage can occur. Also it's not yet clear whether this will be like flu in the sense of never completely going away but mutating and infecting again. It's not clear how long immunity from infection will last. It's a nasty disease. New research indicates that there may also be genetic factors at play in terms of those that suffer the most severe symptoms. Of course countries are desperate for vaccines in order to get lives and economies back to normal as soon as possible so developments were speeded up and the normal length of time for monitoring vaccines, cut short. Nazi support would not go down well in the West any more than in Russia.

  50.  @richardlyon67  Covid is a priority for both parties. Some small businesses in local areas are clubbing together and going online via a website. Seems like a good idea. I hate to say it but if people had followed the guidance in the first place we wouldn't be having continual outbreaks. People are sabotaging their own communities and their local businesses when they ignore the guidance on social distancing, wearing masks and hand washing. It's no good people moaning and at the same time contributing to the problem
