  1. I thought that women generally underestimated their abilities at least in some spheres. Also, is this related to culture to some extent? Students these days may not be told how poor their real performance is, because educational institutions want to maintain their reputation and popularity. A lifetime of work has taught me that confidence and ability are not necessarily related.

  2. This is why the UK government is full of incompetents. The ones that go to public school (and that's most of the senior ones) are given a lot of confidence and come out thinking they can achieve anything.
