I think it was only a theory for a long time. It's very recent that it's been realised that the AIs way of working, as currently developed, will lead to it outsmarting us. That's because they have tried various methods of creating AI with varying degrees of success, but more recently struck upon the one that works best, and is so much better than the rest.

If he doesn't have the answer (the technical solutions for instance) for preventing AI taking over, who does have the solution? Even if there's international agreement about this, will there be capability to achieve it when AI is smarter than us, smarter than its inventors?
