Libertarianism? Is that every man for himself, every man has guns, small government, everyman does what he wants regardless of the effect on his neighbours, and the devil take the hindmost?

@arkatub There's no such thing as 'highly socialist companies'. Those are opposite concepts. It's like saying communist capitalists. Social democracies are the better option, as in the Scandinavian countries which come out high on the Happiness Index.

@imavileone7360 Welfare is a social safety net, paid for by taxes - policies that protect the weakest in society rather than letting them starve on the street but it can benefit everyone, not just the poorest. For instance a welfare state would include state pensions, sickness benefit, unemployment benefit, maternity benefit and healthcare free at the point of use. Sometimes it includes state subsidised public transport, state ownership of utilities such as gas, water and electric systems.

Jimbus Rift Heavy regulation is needed to prevent or deter fraudulent behaviour and anti-competitive practices. Welfare systems are needed to prevent or deter revolution. Tax is the price we pay for civilisation.

Jimbus Rift Sounds interesting but isn't that the same as tax, basically, only taxing more heavily?
