Labour isn't far left. Corbyn has gone and Starmer is much more of a moderate centrist. They have noticed that haven't they?

@romanhoax9014 Take law and order. The Tories say they are a party of law and order but they made massive cuts to the police budget resulting in a loss of 20,000 police officers since they came to power in 2010. They are only just now starting to restore some of those cuts and they made 80% cuts in central grants to local councils (which used to be a large part of their funding) since 2010. If the Tories believe in the nation state, they've a funny was of showing it. When Covid was taking off here they never shut down air travel to stop it getting a hold, nor did they test travellers coming by air to the UK. They'd started to do some of this more recently, closing the stable door after the horse has bolted but even now it's not watertight. As for personal responsibility, the Labour Party does believe in helping the weakest and most vulnerable. If you were to have a health emergency in the street, for instance, would it be helpful for someone to shout that you should take personal responsibility or would you hope they might help you or call for some help?

@seanp1317 It's a mix of views. That's democracy. Just like the Tories are a mix, though they have gone more right in recent years. The important thing is what they commit to do in their manifesto. You don't have to agree with people all the time to know that what they plan to do may be more helpful for you than what others plan to do.
