Her hand is shaking.

That's for the local party members and the local voters to decide. Why should she stand aside? Her majority there is over 30,000.

@howareyou857 I know it's stressful. I meant it as an observation not a criticism.

Maybe she previously had a private agreement with the party and would voluntarily have stood down (that's been speculated) but the party then briefed the Tory press that she would be banned without any contact with her about that. It was a humiliating and degrading move against one of their longest serving loyal MPs.

@Pobotrol I don't think she's being dishonest. This is about timing and double dealing. I think, when she announced this, she had heard about it in the press leaked by the Labour Party, and that was before Starmer said she'd not been banned. The speculation is that she'd agreed privately to go voluntarily with dignity if they returned her Labour Party membership, but then they humiliated her by announcing to the press that she was being banned from standing, but we don't know what was actually said behind closed doors. I wonder what they'll do now. They still have to announce their decision.

@itsPenguinBoy I believe there will likely be a decision next week from what Starmer said about the process but if he thinks it will go down well with local voters and members to parachute in from outside, a Starmer loyalist at the last minute then he's not thinking too well. Candidates rely on local party members to do the campaigning to get them elected or re-elected. Will they do it for a Starmer interloper? Will the voters be prepared to switch their loyalties after what's happened to Abbot and after 37 years of her winning elections there with a large majority.

@Pobotrol It's their own fault. They lost control of the story and they need to clarify quickly now. They have also recently got rid of 2 other left wing MPs right in the run up to the election, so this is not an isolated case. In Diane's case her disciplinary case was decided by the part hierarchy 5 months ago but she wasn't told. She was kept in suspense for all that time. They could have been open then and also made the decision then about whether she could stand or not.

@Pobotrol It's too early to say. She'll have to wait until it is confirmed to her. As Starmer said. 'No decision has yet been made'. I expect it to be made next week judging by what he said about the process, but it's not yet certain she can stand. He has stated that he wants 'the best candidates' though he also tried to distance himself from the decision making process.
