@carkawalakhatulistiwa No, they won't. And China's "copy cat industry" ain't that good. For years they have struggled to build jet engines. Jet engines aren't like cars, they take a lot of technical know-how and experience to craft. It's why much of the military aviation uses Russian-made Saturn engines. A civil jet engine isn't any easier, either, as you have to be attentive to noise and fuel consumption.

@softmechanics3130 The Tu-160 and Tu-95 would make poor passenger airlines. Their engines and designs are old and inefficient. The Tu-160 is a supersonic bomber designed to be a supersonic bomber, and is thus too small to carry a profitable amount of passengers. Also, it's engines are terrible inefficient.

@alrent2992 Yet very few stuck their necks out for Russia. Just because some politicians shake their hands with some Russian dude, or that they buy their junky military equipment DOES NOT mean that they're allied. Push comes to shove, most of those "allies" are going to repo any leased Russian plane that lands in their territory. Cape Town Treaty. Read it.

@carkawalakhatulistiwa Just because Russia has a lot of raw oil doesn't mean that it is instantaneously useful as high quality jet fuel. In fact, I think Russia actually imports aviation fuel as they lack the refining capabilities.

@simplyincorrigible7708 Fighter jet engines, which are quite a bit different from civil aviation engines. Besides, Soviet civil jet engines were notorious for being backwards compared to Western jet engines. They were loud, maintenance-hogs, and very thirsty.
