@ozymandiasnullifidian5590 And yet they're blasted civilian apartment buildings with rocket artillery. Where VDV were just dumped on an airport outside Kiev and slaughtered. Who weren't even told they were going to war. And yet the all-mighty Speztnaz are just going to magically win the war, turning a deeply hostile population into a submissive pro-Russian one. Believing that garbage is what got the Russians into this situation in the first place, that they had the BEST army, and the Ukrainians were a bunch of hohols who would fold in a day or two. Continue to buy into that myth, and you will soon be justifying why Russia is pulling out of Ukraine (because they got what they came for, for some reason).

Russo-boos seething that their massive military has been humiliated by Ukrainian babushkas with Javelins and Turkish drones. What happened to the Russian juggernaut? With their T-90s and T-14s and S-400s? I mean, what kind of country can be considered a military superpower if it has its tanks stolen by Ukrainian farmers, or its SAMs towed away by tractors? Where its soldiers beg villagers for gas? A country where tons of military equipment are just abandoned on the side of the road? I mean, people laughed at the US and Biden for giving the Afghan Republic a bunch of gear only to have it fall into the hands of the Taliban. But at least the Americans didn't have it literally stolen from them.

A N What is Russia going to do even IF they "conquer" Ukraine? Install a puppet government that everyone hates? They'd have to keep over a hundred thousand troops in Ukraine, otherwise that puppet government would install fall. Plus, Russia would have to reconstruct Ukraine, which would be extremely expensive, a cost they can't afford. Any love for Russia in Ukraine is gone. Western Ukraine despises Russia on principle, while the Russo-phone Eastern Ukraine hates Russia now, because they shelled their homes and occupied their villages.

A N That's still a massive part of the country that is hostile to them. They'll still have to garrison AND reconstruct it. Considering how that part of Ukraine was actually poorer than most of Russia pre-war, and now it has been bombed to rubble, rebuilding and bringing it up to the standards of Russia will be extraordinarily expensive. At the same time, Russia is undergoing painful sanctions that have collapsed the value of the ruble. Also annexing part or all of Ukraine would mean that relations with the West would be permanently ruined for DECADES.
