  8.  @Mullet-ZubazPants  A lockdown actually enforced and uniform across the nation. Most "lockdowns" have been a joke and people keep flaunting them. Once again, people in Tokyo don't see masks as an attack on their "freedumbs" which is likely a huge factor. Japan declared a state of emergency on April 7, followed by a gradual series of requests to close businesses and work from home, along with aggressive travel entry restrictions, its not like they did nothing.

As a result, the country has a handle on the virus. Even with only recommendations, Tokyo basically came to a grinding halt shortly after the state of emergency was announced, one study showed Shinjuku Station, the world’s busiest train station, had up to 87% fewer visits at the height of the state of emergency. Overall, the study reported a 50% reduction in mobility and an 80% reduction in social contact. People in Japan willingly followed their government’s pleas to stay indoors as much as possible in order to curb the spread of the pandemic.
