A number of health issues that may occur during childbirth or a c-section can lead to cardiac arrest, including excessive bleeding, heart failure, heart attack, preeclampsia, blood infection and amniotic fluid embolism, where amniotic fluid enters the mother's bloodstream. Its easy to forget nowadays that childbirth used to be a common cause of death for women. Modern medicine has changed that for the most part.
