  1. This occurred in Steele City, Nebraska in 2014. Mandy Horvath went out to celebrate her 21st birthday with friends to go shoot pool at a bar. She states she had two beers and did two shots (this was supported by her bar tab and blood alcohol level), then stepped outside to have a smoke. Her memory became hazy after that point. Later that night she was found by emergency services on a set of train tracks half a mile away from the bar, with both her legs missing. Unfortunately doctors failed to test for date rape drugs as they had been occupied with treating her serious injuries, and they also seem to have initially believed it was a failed suicide attempt. Horvath states that a man she was with that night came to visit her in the hospital, and had told her several of his friends had been injured or killed on those train tracks. The same man committed suicide later that same year. Horvath has stated that in addition to dealing with dismissive police, she has faced "victim shaming" from her community, who blamed her for having been drinking. Also unfortunately no one has ever been investigated for her case because police in her town seemed to dismiss the case as an attempted suicide right off the bat, something Horvath has strongly denied.

  5.  @arturomariscal8009  Common date rape drugs don't stay in the system for long and unless they test right away its easily missed, unfortunately this happens with many date rape victims. Doctors didn't test her because they were busy trying to stop her bleeding and because this was initially thought to be a failed suicide attempt. The police in her town were not helpful and did not take her case seriously, their attitudes were a lot like yours. Many places do not have security cameras, especially in small towns or rural areas. She wasn't drunk, per her bar tab and alcohol level she only had two drinks. How about don't blame victims for being drugged and almost killed?

  10. I saw a few years ago she had DUIs and some other stuff, likely due to trauma over what happened to her and it sucked to see that. Glad she's getting better!
