  1.  @agees924  You do know childbirth has been the leading killer of women for most of history right? Modern OBGYN care makes it seem safe. Also the baby needs to be checked over. Saving a few bucks isn't worth dying over.

  2.  @agees924  You do realize the the Netherlands has, and has had for some years, one of the HIGHEST perinatal mortality rates in Western Europe, right? It also has a high and rising rate of maternal mortality. A study published in the British Medical Journal found that Dutch midwives have high rates of perinatal mortality both at home and in the hospital, as well as the fact that the perinatal mortality rate for low risk women cared for by midwives at home was higher than the perinatal mortality rate for high risk women care for by obstetricians. And the 50k is usually a price charged to insurance companies. Having a baby costs uninsured patients $13,024 - which is still ridiculous as is most American healthcare, but you're literally taking a gamble on a baby's life.
