Anyways, a lot of women formed temperance groups because there was so much domestic violence due to alcohol, due to the "saloon culture" of the time, men would often take their entire weeks' pay and spend it drinking, leaving little to nothing for food or their families. Children of these families often grew up seeing what alcohol abuse did. Prohibition did stop a lot of the "saloon culture" but also had opposite effects on organized crime and the such.
