yep and there went the reputations of Honda namely and to a much lesser extent Toyota even perhaps!

thanks for the educational informative post! I'm well aware of this issue, from reading on the Ody forum, for Odyssey's. Classic that a dealer wouldn't mention that since they either dn't know, or they dn't want to make Honda look defective in design, which it absolutely was for many years re the VCM system, presumably still is. Not only Honda, all makers with cyl deactivation, cause engine issues and failures, GM being the most famous infamous one

@vqdriver yep ,great engine especially if in lower gas price areas since they aren't easy on gas. I have an odyssey. Getting that VCM disabled is THE key! Saves the engine damage e.g. to rings, and cylinders that the stupid VCM causes

yep, part of the age-old scamification/insurance-co/monopoly-co'IFICAtiON of america. We need state gvt's to stop this behavior. Ins. co's are regulated and so should these outfits be. Now health ins cannot do surprise billing in some states like my state.

but thse newer cars are way way heavier bcuz bigger and safer-built

well it IS hard to say this early in the game, but Toy has been really smart about quality development. If in doubt, the choice is Always toyota tho admitedly they had their first hiccups since '17 on and that is really disturbing for most of us considering newer /new cars or even old cars!

@ItsAlive111 yeah i watch him too but fact is that the parts and labor are gonna be around those prices ie depending on how damaged, but due to labor i'ts always gonna be several k's to do ANYthing on it and usually way way more bcuz as this guy says, the fluid degrades and then kaput. 8K easily and way more on some. Subies are megabucks for them and almost all fail by upper 100k's

remember ya'll: statistically the cars that will come in for maint are also the most common cars on the road ie honda, chevy and ford trucks. Just like theft rates, those three literally.

@joem.7621 um, yeah and more like 3500-6K i'd say, esp if like a tpical driver doing some or a lot of short in town trips!!!

literally NEVER use a dealership EVER unless u r dying and literally have no choice or whatnot. Their prices now are often 3X an indey shop, which can easily do brakes.
