  1.  @WestfieldFreshAir  similar was done here in the US during financial crisis to get new car sales going, we had our first federal incentive to scrap old cars. It ruined the low end used car mkt which had been the very basis of how the middle class on down to the lowest part of the socioeconomy had operated forever to keep the nation going /happy overall. Perhaps not coincidentally we've seen the misery index rise and never look back during this exact same time fram, i.e '08 till now.
