  2. got a super dumb question for ya: got oil filter shipped to me and one of the crown/crimp/roundy points around the top was slightly dented so that it goes inward instead of round/outward, and paint was slightly dulled there as if rubbing on packaging, as is slight paint /lettering off on top as if rubbing/vibration in shipping or whatnot. I could see the paint was cracked at that dent so i picked at it by finger nail and chipped some paint off, but see no crack. But filter mfr's strongly urge ppl to toss any dented filters and i wonder if u agree, i assume u do? Back in the day i wouldnt have worried much about this, but now that cars are hard to come by, i am not wanting to make catastrophic mistakes w/ my car engine! But anyway this filter is kinda small seemingly, for a 3.5l honda engine, and bcuz those grip/crown points are round and thus a strong shape, the fact that it was dented enough to make it go 'round' the other way, the wrong direction, means it really flexed, and that maybe is a lot of stress, so i will not use it, unless u say otherwise. Filter mfr's say that the problem w/ dents is that it's hard to estimate when they might fail due to the normal pulsating aspect of the flowing oil, which pulsates due to theh oil pump pulsing factor/nature/system. It was a very beefy top dog model filter by Purolator, so i thought maybe i could get away w/ the tiny dent which i barely saw at first, even thought maybe it was intentionally designed that way but of course not.

  4. yep, higher pressure does improve handling on both cars and trucks, especially on cars! Ride is hard on some cars, but handling benefit is real, and it's also safer overall than soft levels like 30 or 32.

  5. the bar prop is of course cheaper to produce than the gas struts, and it's such a difference that the Toyota lead engineer pointed it out on a car that was the subject of an interview he was doing w/ a journo. I was kinda stunned that he bothered mentioning it as a signal that the car was 'nicer' than basic. It IS nice to have but only when it works obviously

  6. but some plugs are coated with that special surface so that the torque is exact and if u add antiseize, it MESSES WITH THE TORQUE readings! So u must not add antiseize to that sort of plug!!

  7. all the inflation near me happened literally after DJT was elected and thru his four years. For real, and THAT four years was also when supply chain started choking, where we saw things like Toyota production having its first issues EVER including major quality issues!! That's econ reality. I enjoy facing real facts. Whereas inflation during past three yrs was entirely global as u can well learn by googling for a few seconds. As the captain in NCIS New Orleans says (played by Scott Bakula), "learn things!"
