  1. quite true in some ways, at least i'm likely biased that way, born in '70. But interestingly i've long noticed that those around your age or born thru late '70's have a quite less clear vision of what just how dark the soviet seeming military threat was, namely bcuz it all-time peaked around '83, when the temperature for actual conflict reached a true high, which then deflated rapidly and so far has not re-emerged at all, even with Poo-Tin's weak-country threats of using nukes which he has no strategic nor practical ability to use at all. I have repeatedly noticed a form of naivte and incurious-about-history nature to many ppl, not just just americans, born after the mid or later seventies. Hopefully we all are learning fast, on the job, as it were, now, bcuz the old-world (east) threats are insidious bcuz they're actually not dramatic like nuke threats are, they're medium and longterm, bcuz they seek to undermine the very nature of western modern free-people's civilization.
