yep & it literally started cooking in '16, when brazen crime surged from what i personally observed and looked at stats that year and i'd been looking already since '12ish on, when it was nothing vs '16 onward. Then police started quitting or early retiring in some locales, namely cities, especially so-called 'conservative' cops both down-policed, and then quit entirely, supposedly. Clearly some major trend has happened socially, and i put some responsiblity onto society, and some onto police and gvt admin's who needed to repidly & continuously recuit new police. This is basic math and this country is slipping badly, as we can all see. It's not a liberal vs conservative thing actually in reality, it's a money and competence thing AND many cops i've personally been aware of for over 40 years have not had the competence or professional levels needed, though many have. Vs europe though, we can't even compare. There are other aspects of the education and competence of americans generally that is badly wanting, including character and basic judgement, as seen in an extreme case like Uvalde cock-up (mess-up & failure to provide basic rescue for children, which should be a crime)
