  2.  @Chouettechevêche172  It was in large part thanks to the works of Thomas Paine who wrote about the plight of the working class in feudal society. It was the French people, the peasants who took the power back from the wealthy landowners. If a few of the bourgeoisie joined them, that does not make it their revolution. It's you who are confused! After being locked up for refusing to support the beheading of the King. Thomas Paine was eventually helped to escape and went to America where he helped start the revolution against the British redcoats...
