Because privatisation has been such a success... They call it privatisation but it's just feeding the private sector cash and the public always end up footing the bill... Rail, Water, Energy you name it we end up paying for private-sector profits and the service always suffers.

@JohnHoward_ You realise Britain still profits from its Imperial past? Still uses a hostile environment to deprive people based on the colour of their skin? Still deports people who have paid taxes for decades because the Government didn't digitise the records before destroying them? Black people account for 3% of the population, but 8% of deaths in police custody. Why shouldn't white kids be taught about the disparity between how different people are treated? You do know 'white privilege' isn't about material wealth don't you? If you take two poor kids on a council estate 1 white and 1 black, society gives the white kid more opportunities, more lenience regarding crime, more chance of a career in say politics, TV, the legal profession etc. Get back to your lame skate videos ffs...

@JohnHoward_ We can both agree privatisation adds a layer of administration and profit requirements that have to be paid for by the end-user and hence it's always going to be more expensive and less reliable than nationalised industry. Not to mention privatisation comes with a board of directors/shareholders who care nothing for the customer and make decisions based on profit alone. Anyways I've had a lovely, intellectually challenging debate... But this wasn't it! ;-)
