  1. Laws and words are given meaning by those who create and use them. Predominantly the powerful in society who want to ensure their power and wealth increase no matter the cost to others. Changes to legal aid brought in by the Tory government in 2012 to save money along with changes to the way in which solicitors are paid for legal aid work in 2006 means that justice is now harder to get and is truly only for those with money. There is no incentive anymore for justice, no financial incentive for solicitors to protect those on the lower rungs of the social ladder. We have a government that spent over £200 million of taxpayer money challenging the human rights of the disabled and vulnerable who lost financial support due to their legislation.
