Fell foul of... Regrettable... Shame... Unfortunate... I understand her intention may have been to show an interest but the prevalence of this attitude in aristocracy was also highlighted by Megan for which she received bad press and threats from the far right. I can't imagine how someone would feel being born in Britain to be so questioned, it's the same as Americans who use the term African-Americans to enforce a difference. An American lady who visited Sweden was almost in tears when she was simply referred to as American without the prefix African. It's hard for us to understand how a person's perception, confidence and place in the world can be challenged and harmed with this type of subtle ethnocentrism.

I've never been asked If my ancestry was Celtic, Saxon, Norman, Viking etc and I've lived in Britain all 50 years of my life, as have my recent ancestors. It seems my ancestry isn't relevant as I look like everyone else...
