In Britain, they came first for the Socialists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Socialist. Then they came for the Miner's Union and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Miner. Then they came for the Rail worker's union and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Rail worker. Then they came for the Nurse's union and I didn't speak up because I was a factory worker. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up...

@markbriten6999 Exactly it's a reworking of a poetic form of a 1946 post-war confessional prose by the German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller.

The world is in a very similar state to how it was 80 years ago. The same types rising to power globally on the back of lies and hate. Never forget?

@themsmloveswar3985 No need to be jealous of my intellect and creativity. You too could understand the world if you read books and study...

@djbogz1921 To think you could have typed something witty or intelligent...

@DropdudeJohn A reference to the potato famine caused by the English? That's a despicable thing to say, very ignorant...
3
@DropdudeJohn Extract from a recent article: "In fact, the most glaring cause of the famine was not a plant disease, but England's long-running political hegemony over Ireland. The English conquered Ireland, several times, and took ownership of vast agricultural territory. Large chunks of land were given to Englishmen"

@piccalillipit9211 Thank you!

@justinquinn8921 Originally published: 6 January 1946... If you can't see global conflict on the horizon you're blind, deaf and well you can guess the rest...
2
@DropdudeJohn You haven't read any recent legislation, have no idea how much your rights are affected and seem oblivious to the global conflict on the horizon. There are many key factors that are aligned with the world back them. Why would I attempt to debate with a political and economic illiterate who seems completely oblivious to geopolitics? That would be like trying to talk a trifle into sentience...
2
@nickbarton3191 Agreed, not to mention the spy cops bill which allows security services to commit crimes with impunity and to even frame citizens for crimes.

@ThomasKing19933 Thank you!

@DropdudeJohn Thanks for that pointless comment, I'll waste no time in reading it... What you lack in intellect you clearly make up for in stupidity...

@djbogz1921 You have? I wrote it a few years ago, but haven't posted it since I got suspended from Twitter for using facts against right-whingers... Migrants aren't illegal until they are refused entry. The home office is way behind on paperwork because they use migrants to wind people like you up. Then use your ignorance to keep diverting our taxes to the rich...
1
@DropdudeJohn Can you do me a favour? could you please defecate your cognitive diarrhoea on someone else's comment? I'm worried your ignorance will lower my IQ if I read anymore..
1
@djbogz1921 No one wants uncontrolled borders and unlimited migration. Have you been reading the daily fail again? We signed up to agreements as part of a civilised world. To take our fair share, no more, no less... It works both ways... PS Migrants from the EU add more to the country in taxes during their lives than they take out...
1
@djbogz1921 Sorry did you fail to read my comment or was it understanding that let you down? I never mentioned border security... But I haven't noticed any Albanians climbing over the Welsh hills or slipping in through the river Severn...
1
@DropdudeJohn The part where you missed the fact that soldiers guarding at-risk migrants who already suffer inhumane treatment and disease from the lack of facilities they're forced to live in - is morally wrong and authoritarian. That you can't see the connection between what we allow our government to do to migrants, and how that lowers the standards with which we are also treated. Take a look at the authoritarian legislation in the past decade that neuters your rights...
1
@djbogz1921 Enjoy your roast beef and have a long hard think about how your bigotry affects the way the Tories will eventually treat you! Don't be a useful tool...
1
@DropdudeJohn Why are you having a go at everyone on this thread? is your life that lonely and hate-filled? I mean seriously, were you born on a motorway, because that's where a lot of accidents happen...
1
@DropdudeJohn PS All of those unions have been targetted separately and as a whole by anti-union/antiworker legislation which lowers your rights and economic income. It's pointless to explain every second comment to someone who doesn't have the base knowledge everybody else does. All you have is Daily Fail myths to peddle and requests for information that most people already know, even then you seem incapable of connecting the dots...

@colinwishbone4437 lol reading Marx doesn't necessarily make someone a Marxist. In the same way, reading Dumbo doesn't necessarily make you... An elephant...
