Manual labour not only affects the body but also the mind. 12-hour nightshifts for example have a negative effect on mind and body. Sleep cycles, nerves, wear and tear on joints, years of constant stress, tiredness and deterioration. We should all retire before 60 and yes physical labour should be rewarded by earlier retirement. We work to live - living to work negates the simple joys of life.

@Anonymous-qw Yes and while that is an exception to the rule, the main thing is hard physical labour that should earn an earlier retirement. No doubt you have many of the fatigue and sleep issues, but add that to constant physical wear and tear and it becomes quite significant. To be honest without the constant need for replacing flawed goods (built in obscelescence) via coinsumerism we could all work less hours and retire earlier. Imagine having modular tech devices and tools so that upgrades would be easier, with the highest quality that last a lifetime. Quality clothes and food for all. With a focus on ecological impact and sustainability and having more time for personal growth rather than the pursuit of wealth.

@Anonymous-qw I didn't suggest all labourers do nightshifts. You should learn to read and stop being so pedantic. I'm not interested in petty disputes of semantics...
