@danielwebb8402 They don't have a home, almost 300,000 have to rely on awful box rooms while their children suffer hunger and deprivation. Just because they have a roof does not mean they aren't homeless. We have 22% of the population in poverty and we paid £120.1 billion in subsidies alone to corporations in 2021, those corporations also get tax breaks, loopholes, grants, bailouts from taxpayer money. Those corporations also cost us £40-120 billion per annum in unpaid taxes via the tax gap. Professional statistician - you mean you work for the ONS producing statistics with narrow focuses, misleading language and dodgy timelines? I've torn apart many stats for their misuse of phrases and also check the raw data to confirm them. For instance, we had a population of 67 million during the pandemic and wasted £37 billion a test and trace service that wasn't fit for use. That's £552 per person, which could have bought every man, woman and child solid gold medical trackers...

When nurses are using food banks and many working households are in poverty in what used to be the second-richest country, you have to ask why people would deny it.

@danielwebb8402 I'm not interested in redefining the interpretation of poverty or homelessness, the facts are clear. The wealth gap/poverty gap has doubled in Britain compared to our EU neighbours because of 12 years of Tory mismanagement and corruption. Cronyism and fraud has cost us hundreds of billions during the pandemic. That money could have resolved the poverty issues if put into public services. Why is the taxpayer topping up wages for themselves via tax credits? while corporations make bumper profits. Please don't reply again, I've heard all this a million times...

@danielwebb8402 Here's some more info for you "The UK is the poorest country in North-West Europe, per person. The data shows the wealth gap between the UK and our European neighbours has doubled, from -7.6% in 2000 to -16.3% in 2021."

Obesity has nothing to do with poverty, cheap high-calorie food is to blame, quality food is expensive and you can't pick and choose at the plethora of food banks. Don't try to analyse stats yourself you don't seem capable. "English councils helped more than 278,000 households with homelessness between April 2021 and March 2022. That’s up 16 per cent on the previous year."

I just wish the media would stop picking on the Tories. Every day another scandal, parliamentary rule break, laws broken, fraud accusation, mass corruption and cronyism story and yet no Tory MP is ever sacked, brought to justice, jailed or fined. Which surely proves their innocence...
